Manolo Blahnik Makes NYFW Return

by JESSICA TUMIO

Manolo Blahnik lends his name to the New York Fashion Week line-up this February.

The London-based designer officially joined the fashion week roster earlier this week, making this the first time he’ll be presenting his shoes in the Big Apple in a while. But that isn’t to say Blahnik is a stateside rookie. Take a quick look back to September’s Spring/Summer 2014 shows and you’ll notice the Blahnik-designed, leafy-strapped, pointed toe pumps that graced the ankles of models walking down Zac Posen‘s runway. He also recently designed the runway shoes for Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera and Holmes & Yang, just to name a few.

Blahnik returned to the Fashion Week circuit this past September, when he held a proper presentation in London’s Covent Garden Hotel. There, his Spring 2014 collection sat accompanied by a short film and plenty of buzz. Now he returns to show for Autumn/Winter 2014 in a gallery right here in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

The designer told WWD, “New York is a very exciting city and I have a special sentiment towards it since it was the first place to make my shoes available to women outside of London.”
