Sophia Webster for J. Crew:

Spring 2014 Collection

The J. Crew Spring 2014 collection stood on the heels and soles of Sophia Webster yesterday morning during its presentation at New York Fashion Week.

Quirky London designer Webster teamed up with J. Crew to create a capsule collection of 12 styles debuting with the retailer’s spring collection next year. According to WWD, The Sophia Webster for J. Crew collection is set to hit the web and select J. Crew stores in 2014 (pricing is still being worked out).

Both brands have complimentary aesthetics – neither are strangers to vibrant colors, and patterns of a certain playfulness.  “They definitely wanted my language to be part of it,” Webster told WWD about the collaboration, “The collection is really fun and feminine, very me, but still a hybrid of the two brands.”

Webster stays true to her zany silhouettes but re-imagines them in J. Crew-appropriate coloring and floral patterns. Playful pointed toe pumps with black and white piping match well with an airy white flirty skirt paired with a soft grey sweater. A grey and black tie-back sandal riffs off of her signature Rik 03 is a standout design which could only be produced by none other than Webster.

The majority of the collection stays light and accessible, with Webster offering her touch of whimsy on even the most basic styles — think a bold cobalt pump with a black and white striped heel. And thanks to the apparel’s versatility, you’ll be able to pull off her pumps with J. Crew shorts of the same pattern, or separate with anything else from line.
