2013 Met Gala Shoes

The shoes, the hair, the clothes….but really the shoes. We loved that a majority of last night’s Met Gala attendees weren’t above going full-punk (Anne Hathaway, we’re looking at you) for the event. But even more than loving the makeup, hair and outfits, we obviously were stalking the feet of guests to see who had on the coolest footwear. We put together a roundup of the best Met Gala shoes and want to know, who wore your favorite?

Jennifer Lawrence: “Shina” $2,495.
Elizabeth Banks: Custom “Elizabeth” fringe sandals

Although Lawrence might have shrunk away from the theme just a little bit in this noir Christian Dior gown, both ladies still tore it up on the red carpet. Banks wore an awesome chain mail jacket by Atelier Versace that lent itself to punk, and as an added bonus, she walked the carpet with the shoe designer himself. Not bad, Banks.

Madonna: Blade Heel Pumps with Ankle Strap, $820

In case you doubted her, Madonna doesn’t mess around when it comes to themes. You can tell she really had a ball walking the red carpet in probably one of the more on-theme outfits of the evening, and we’re going to go ahead and say rightfully so.

Charlotte Olympia

Kate Mara: “Octavia,” available in gold at $1,195, black at for $1,125.

Kate Mara wore the “Octavia”, which is a part of the designer’s Encore collection. We love the way this black suede shoe almost webs across Mara’s toes, reminiscent of the brand’s aesthetic signature.

Rooney Mara: Shark tooth heels, $1,055.

It only seems natural that Rooney Mara donned a head-to-toe Givenchy look for the event, having co-chaired it with Ricaro Tisci himself. Her shark tooth heels are from the Spring 2012 collection, and were a huge hit, so it’s near impossible to find them still available in white, however we found them in light pink at Foward by Elyse Walker.

Honorary chair of the evening Beyonce Knowles also showed up wearing Givenchy, but almost a complete foil to Mara’s look. Knowles wore a cascading black sequin, gold and bronze damask dress with a fiery train rivaled only by her boots of the same pattern.

And though Madonna’s feet were Casadei, it should be noted that the rest of her outrageous outfit gets traced back to the hands of Tisci as well.

Edmundo Castillo

Nora Zehetner: “Divina” sandals from Edmundo Castillo.

Nora Zehetner wore a pair of Edmundo Castillo sandals encrusted with Swarovski Crystals from the Fall 2013 Collection. These gorgeous, showstopping sandals feature an embellished heel and straps.

Nicholas Kirkwood

January Jones: Moda Operandi Exclusive: $2,295,

January Jones certainly pulled out all the stops last night wearing a pair of Nicholas Kirkwood Studded Tartan Peep toe Booties, a Moda Operandi exclusive. They can be found in the Punk Shop on, which features a slew of rebellious essentials from safety pin earrings to Dr. Martens. Her harsh eyeliner almost makes her unrecognizable, but not yet coming across the “Riot Dolly” from Charlotte Olympia that we were hoping to see, we’re relieved someone wore a shoe from Moda Operandi’s curated shop.

Rupert Sanderson

Emily Blunt: “Floria,” $755.
Nina Dobrev: “Elba,” $595

Both ladies opted for black heels from Rupert Sanderson – both incredibly different silhouettes, but lent themselves perfectly to the look. Dobrev sported black patent “Elba” heels underneath her Monique Lhuillier jumpsuit and skirt overlay, while Blunt wore the “Floria” cutout sandals we reported on first thing this morning. The “Elba” is available in nine colors on Rupert Sanderson’s e-commerce destination, while the “Floria” can be found in three.

Check out the full coverage of Emily Blunt’s outfit and let us know — which Sanderson look fares better?
