In mentioning Jelly shoes, we might be conjuring up childhood memories of romping around the playground, backyard or beach wearing the 90′s footwear staple. But this is no shoe of the past – the jelly shoe is back (and actually has been for a while now) and whether you like it or not, you can’t do anything about it…except maybe invest in a pair designed by Karl Lagerfeld.
Coming Spring 2013, Brazilian footwear brand Melissa, who knows plastic shoes better than anyone else out there, has called upon the man behind Chanel’s creative direction since 1983 to design a capsule collection.
And Lagerfeld isn’t stopping there – he is set to lend his designs to the brand to span four seasons. Melissa is no stranger to high profile collaborations, as they have already completed collections with Jason Wu, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood. Adding Lagerfeld to the mix only strengthens the growing presence of this plastic shoe in high fashion.
Unfortunately we’ll have to wait until March to peep the collection, so until then we will keep wondering what the man behind arguably one of the most influential fashion brands of today has up his black tuxedo sleeve.
Until then, check out our Jason Wu x Melissa giveaway running until 12/12/12.
