SPRING 2012 TREND: Zip It Up
You’ve got to love a zipper, that little tiny detail that when opened or closed in such a manner can swing your look in polar opposite directions from punk right through to prim. This spring designers have taken the zipper to the next level and have promoted it to ‘detail’ status, not just a function of the garment it’s attached to.
There were vertical zippers at Donna Karan New York, horizontal zippers at House of Holland and asymmetric zippers at Akris. From dresses to jackets to jeans, there’s no place this trend is afraid to go.
How To Wear It:
To work it like a pro, take a moment to think about your body shape. An asymmetric zipper can do wonders to create curves where there are none. A vertical zip can enhance height whilst a horizontal zip can have the effect of dissecting the body in two – great for super tall girls, but if you’re on the short side step away from that look.
