MBFW FALL 2012 DAY 1: Honor

If you didn’t have your nose to the fashion grindstone, you’d be forgiven for thinking that Honor designer Giovanna Randall had been doing this design gig for years. On the contrary, new to the game over the last few years (her first full runway show was the Spring 12 collection), she seems to have this design process down.

With the help of stylist Leith Clarke, she worked some ladylike but preppy looks with quirky twists that would appeal to a range of age groups. Think Kate Spade with street smarts.

We saw organza layers over sweet silk tea dresses that gave them an irresistible 3D motion. She showed combinations of separates from shorts to mini skirts to maxis in silks, wools and tweeds.

To keep the prep vibe going, these were matched up with prim buttoned up georgette blouses and sharp tailored jackets or coats in vibrant but appropriate fall hues like cobalt blues and purples. There were some awesome jumpsuits that screamed casual luxe and her floral printed satins added a romantic blend. —SARA DELANEY
