Kailia Footwear weds aesthetics and ethics, founder Nancy Dong asserts. A vegan since 2000, she couldn’t find good quality, stylish animal-free shoes and—as a shoedesign veteran herself—set out to make her own. Dong’s résumé includes stints at BCBG Max Azria, Ermenegildo Zegna and Charmoné, but she hadn’t been dreaming about launching her own line.
