Thanks to Fashionista for finding this tidbit.  According to the Telegraph, a recent survey found that "more than 92 per cent of women could remember the first shoes they bought with their own money…Less than two, however, in three recalled the name of the person they first kissed". It goes on to say that "An overwhelming 96 per cent of women said they regretted having thrown away a pair of shoes, while only 15 per cent felt sorry at dumping a boyfriend."

I actually remember both the first boy I kissed and the first shoes I bought with my own money…I'm not bragging, I'm just honestly surprised. But then maybe my teen years go a long way to explaining at least the former (Catholic girls school…yup). But my absolute favorite part of the article was this nugget: "Experts said the reasons behind women’s fondness for footwear were down to their shoe buying habits….And much to their partner's annoyance, many women hang on old shoes, building up a sizeable collection by middle age, even if many go unworn most of the time."

There are some other footwear facts that may or may not surprise you in the article, including "While the majority of women say their shoe buying habits have not created money problems, one in seven have hidden a new pair of shoes from their partner." Ummm…guilty as charged.
