You’ll find footwear designer Kathryn Amberleigh’s debut and eponymous shoe store nestled in a cozy space located in a part of Manhattan’s SoHo section that’s slightly removed from the bustling crowds of tourists and surrounded by colorful and captivating boutiques. It stands out along the street, in no small part due to its interior, which takes a very no-nonsense approach to displaying its contents: the clean, white walls are bare from the ceiling down until you reach about calf-high where on either side a single white shelf displays a row of shoes above another row along the floor.
But the shoes are really all the decoration this space needs. The fact that the sheer number of shoes comes from just one designer is astounding; the single pairs practically compete for space. At the very least it takes a couple of go-arounds to make sure you haven’t missed anything. But the selection is unmatched – there is anything and everything you could want. At the time of this article the Spring/Summer 2009 collection was currently on display, and there were strappy neon heels next to classic, minimalist flats and colorful, textured pumps.
Over all the prices are fairly reasonable, hovering right above $200. Kathryn Amberleigh’s style is unique without being  so edgy that you couldn’t get a lot of use out of her shoes, and the selection is varied enough that you could satisfy just about any of your fashion likes or needs from conservative to flashy. Definitely a designer to watch going forward, and a store to visit the next time you find yourself in the area.
