The Stylist’s Guide To Gift-Giving: Part 2

Over the past week, many of you left comments about your “signature gift” to win a Rockstar Accessories Purse Hook.  The overwhelming theme was that personalization is key!  While jewelry is always a welcomed gift, you may not think it’s the most original or personal holiday choice.  It’s time to think again!  This season, savvy gift-giving is all about choosing a custom piece for your friends and family to make them feel extra special.

Meet the designer duo that can make all of your dreams come true: nik + moy.  Twin sisters Nicole and Michelle Chow put their amazingly creative powers to work when they launched their first unique and glamorous jewelry collection in early 2006.  While their beautiful website showcases sample pieces with precious metals and stones aplenty to intrigue and inspire you, the real beauty of their business is that your vision can become a reality with their help!  Whether your best friend’s wardrobe could use a fashion-forward boost with a new necklace or your bridesmaids are in need of the perfect earrings to walk down the aisle, nik + moy are your gals.  While the designers are full of ideas to help guide you, they are open to creating dazzling pieces just for you and yours to wear happily ever after based on your ideas.  In two weeks, your jewels will be on their way to you to bestow upon the chosen one(s).

Speaking of chosen, one lucky Running With Heels reader will win* a nik + moy original to flaunt this holiday season!  The gorgeous necklace, pictured below, suspends three smooth amazonite ovals on a 20 inch gold filled chain and clasp.  This piece, valued at $75.00, can be yours! How, you ask? Submit a comment below telling us what you’d wear this necklace with by 12 PM EST, Thursday November 20th! The winner will be chosen at random at that time, so be sure to leave your comment by then to be eligible.

Until next week, harness your creative energy and get started on your holiday list early!

Stay Stylish,

Ally

This necklace is so simple, yet classic and elegant. I think the best choice would be to wear it with a little black dress to let this jewelry stand out even more. Would love to win this:0)

    Hi Ally,

This necklace is quite a piece of wearable art–strong yet the chain is fragile.
I am crazy about turquoise with brown and would see how it would go with a brown v or turtle neck.
In the holiday spirit, I would share it with friends.
    Best,
    Laurie Schloff

  3. Roxy Says:

This is an amazing piece of jewelry. I would definitely dress it up and make sure it is the focus of my outfit!

I would probably pair it with a fitted, elegant white dress for a summer night out or with a silver cocktail dress for New Years.

  4. Aurora Says:

This piece is perfectly chunky enough to hold its own on a larger frame like my own, yet delicate enough to feel super girly. I would wear this for the holidays with a wrap jersey dress. To dress up I would pair this ensemble with sparkely gold heels and to dress down I would pair it with classic black knee-high boots over thick tights.

  5. Amy Says:

I would wear this with either a deep dark colored v-neck or black turtleneck to best show off the light turquoise color and sculptural design. I would probably wear very simple earrings and no other jewelry to keep the focus on the necklace as it makes a statement all on its own. It’s a beautiful and unique design.

  6. Angie Mendoza Says:

This necklace is simple – yet elegant. I would wear it with a low cut shirt to work or on date night. I love the amazonite ovals and I would love to win it. Although if I do, my mom would probably try to take it from me. :-)

  7. Alyssa Says:

I think this necklace would be perfect for almost any occasion. I would want to show it off as much as I could. Since I recently got engaged I think the first place I would wear it is to my engagement party!

  8. Debbie Says:

I would wear this necklace with my favorite white silk kimono-style top with a plunging neckline tucked into a black tulip skirt, and a classic pair of platform open-toe stilettos. That’s what I’m planning on wearing to a night out to see the New York Philharmonic, and this necklace would be absolutely dazzling to complete the look!

  9. Nancy Says:

I adore necklaces and this one is fabulous!! I would add another hook in my closet in a heartbeat for this beautiful amazonite necklace, and I would love wearing it with a black turtle. It would really stand out against the jet black and show off the ultra fine chain and beautiful craftsmanship.

  10. Beth Says:

This lovely necklace would look great with a turtleneck for a casual look, or it would be beautiful for a dressy event, paired with a black or brown dress. Mostly, it would look fabulous on ME!

  11. Katie Says:

I love those stones! The necklace is so pretty I think I would probably end up wearing it all the time instead of keeping it for something special. Why keep such a pretty thing hiding in a jewelry box?

  12. Marie Says:

I would wear it with my favorite white silk blouse and black DVF skirt with my favorite Mary Jane shoes.

  13. Kelly Says:

I would wear this fantastic piece with any holiday outfit just to feel hot! It falls in exactly the right place to draw the eye to your clavical and breastbone…and, to be honest, being 6 months pregnant I need the eye drawn to any place besides my belly!

  14. Sandy Y Says:

Very pretty piece! This would be a staple for me. It would be great with a cream turtleneck, dark denim jeans and black boots.

  15. Sherri Says:

It is an absolutely lovely piece of jewelry. I have never seen amazonite. The necklace is a work of art. I love the dangling chain ladder. I would wear it with a low cut top and dark brown velvet blazer for work or for dress. I would wear it with many of my ourfits.

  16. Mazie Says:

Very simple…I would wear it with everything…and to bed. Once it’s on I don’t believe I would take it off.

  17. molly Says:

I think the color of the Amazonite stones speak for themselves; they glow!
This necklace could be dressed up – or down – and it has an elegant simplicity of form that would go with nearly any outfit…great with a simple black dress or top, rich against chocolate brown or fantastic with fabrics that sparkle for the holidays. Yes, it would look great with everything! I’d love to win it and enjoy it ALL year!

  18. Susi Says:

Thanks to Morgan for “getting me linked” so that I might make a comment on how I would wear this beautiful necklace.
For work – with a black scoopneck top/sweater and for the holidays with that “little black dress” to show it off to perfection. I would sparkle and everyone else would be “green with envy”.

  19. Lin Says:

This would look great with a plunging neckline and the color goes well with my dark red hair!

  20. Paula Says:

I would wear this beautiful necklace with a crisp white blouse, jeans and boots. I think it would fit very nicely into my wardrobe.
    Thanks, Paula

  21. Julie Says:

I would wear this piece with my pale pastel swirl-print mini dress and flats. It is a very versatile piece. Thanks for giving me something to add to my Christmas list (if I don’t win!)

  22. Elizabeth Says:

I would wear this necklace with a great fitting pair of shoes and if my husband is lucky, nothing else!

  23. Kristin Says:

I love the pale color of that stone! It would look great with a soft cream color sweater. It could also be dressed up with a gown or cocktail dress, I imagine pretty in pink with crinolines!!

  24. Zoe Lee Says:

I would wear this necklace with a lowcut black slinky top or dress, jeans, and some fabulous black silk louboutins, or if the black dress, my hot pink louboutins…woohooo

  25. Kris Says:

I think it’s a great conversation piece! I would wear it to dress up work outfits — either button downs or v-necks to show it off!

  26. hsmidori Says:

I would wear this beautiful necklace with a classic peal white corset, black suit jacket and black pencil skirt in office in the day time. In the evening, I can take a shawl to replace the jacket, then go to party!! ^0^

  27. Kim Says:

This necklace is beautiful and so versatile. Button up, V-neck or dressed up for the holidays. It’s gorgeous and would go great with everything I own! I want it.

  28. WENDIE WYATT Says:

LOVE THE NECKLACE AND NO MATTER HOW IT WAS WORN WOULD MAKE ME LOOK FABULOUS. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND HAVE RECENTLY STARTED BACK ON THE DATING SCENE I WOULD LOVE TO WEAR THIS OUT TO DINNER AND DANCING WITH MY GUY HOPE I WIN.

  29. Katrina Says:

I love high-contrast color combos so I would wear this against a fun, soft cherry red top to make the amazonite pop! Or, if in a more subdued, elegant mood, I’d wear it against a tobacco brown top. It’s a versatile piece that can dress up or down.

  30. Sheila Says:

I would wear this “nik & moy” necklace with my v-neck jersey gray dress, and silver chain metal/turquoise heels to my Husband’s company holiday party.

  31. gikki Says:

I’d want to wear this beautiful necklace with a long, white linen sleeveless dress, strappy bronze, metallic wedge heels, and some delicate gold bangles. Maybe a light, neutral-colored silk wrap too. Then I’d want to get a babysitter and go have dinner on a tropical island.

  32. Nanette Says:

I would wear this with a royal or black cashmere deep v neck sweater-

  33. Amanda Murphy Says:

I would wear it with my everyday clothes for work. I tend to be stylishly dressed at work and use my jewelry to dress up my outfits. This would look best with my tan pencil skirt and a white button up shirt.

  34. Shamera Says:

Because of its multiple drop design, it is tricky to pair with necklines – casually, I would pair this with a James Perse Los Angeles tunic in brown, worn as a mini dress with knee high boots. The blue in the amazonite pairs gorgeously with the brown tunic and my blue eyes. OO
For dress up, I’d wear it with the new DKNY silk tie dye fade camisole in steel blue with a black velvet skirt and wrap, perfect with the color and the drop neckline. This is a signature piece, the kind I wear so well.

  35. Jayna Says:

I would wear it on job interviews! I’m an unemployed (thanks economy) Marketing manager and that’s the perfect piece to polish off my suit. It’s elegant, simple and fun!

  36. Emily Karl Says:

I can’t imagine much I wouldn’t wear this necklace with, other than sweat pants of course. It is classy, timeless, and fashionable all at the same time. I’d be happy to rock this piece daily.
