Nous aimons Christian Louboutin!
Last night, Thursday, Feb. 7th, Morgan and I popped into Saks Fifth Avenue in New York to see the man whose shoes are the most coveted in the world… a bold statement I know, but who could argue it. Christian Louboutin was on hand signing his beautiful red soles for hundreds of women, credit cards in one hand, champagne in the other. Saks had a fabulous selection of Louboutin's masterpieces, including patent leather flats, strappy espadrilles, basic, but gorgeous pumps, and sky-high heels in every color imaginable. After trying on a pair of beautiful black patent peep-toes and being disappointed that they didn't have my size in the pair I really wanted, Morgan and I set out in search of the perfect pair of red pumps. We found a pair of gorgeous, red patent peep-toe pumps, purchased them and queued up for our chance to meet Monsieur Louboutin. While patiently standing in line for an hour, we watched him artfully pen his name on each woman's shoe. The excitement on the women's faces as they watched him turn their already beautiful shoes into true works of art was great. (I thought to myself, this one man is making so many women SO HAPPY! How odd. But, I myself have never been so smitten by a man.)
While standing in line, Morgan and I made friends with Clare, a woman from England. Obviously in the store to shop, she realized that Louboutin himself was going to be there and purchased a pair to have personalized as well. As we stood chatting, we soon learned that she was flying back to London that evening. Not unusual, except for the fact that her flight was leaving JFK airport at 7:30 pm. When we left Saks at 5:45, Clare was still enjoying her champagne, and had another stop in Brooklyn to collect her things before heading to the airport. Clare, I nominate you Christian Louboutin's Fan of the Year. (I'm sure she missed her flight back to London.) Witnessing the frenzy he created among grown women is not something I'm likely to forget either. When it was our turn, Morgan and I took a seat facing him and chatted as he penned "Running with these heels" on the right sole of our new shoes. I must say he was very charming and friendly, and after meeting him I'm head over heels! The best part of the evening, Christian Louboutin now knows Running With Heels! Enjoy pictures of the event and check out Morgan and me with Louboutin himself.
Saks hosted Louboutin's autograph sessions at several of it's stores coast to coast, with New York wrapping up his tour.
